They are definitely proud of their products.

I'm not ruling anything out but I was at least initially thinking about a mid tier build because it would live it's life being hauled around in cars or boats or fishing or something like that.

I don't have any particular deadline so later on if I find something on sale I might spring for it.

That said that one V Seven is made from a different type of metal alloy. That seems cool. I've seen others made from some magnesium blend too.

My current 9" 300BLK is a tad over 9lbs with everything including the sling, suppressor, optic, and a full mag. Considering that I'm not going to mess with the internal stuff like having a skeletonized BCG and a titanium firing pin I really need to figure out if it makes enough difference to make a difference if you know what I mean.

But PCC / 9mm PDWs are fun, too. Have you considered the new Kuna? Or, perhaps an MP5K?

On that Aero build, how long is that hand guard? I looked at their website and it seems like the shortest ones they offer are 7.5".

I'm not interested in ultra light BCG or skeletonized receivers, but aside from that what are your thoughts on light weight uppers and lowers? What about handguards?

If possible I want to use a slick side upper or at least one that doesn't have a forward assist. I want to eliminate snag points as well as weight.

I've seen several carbon fiber handguards but I'm not entirely sold on that either.

Currently I have 4 different rifles using all billet and while I like all of them a lot I'm considering going with a forged set for this build. Probably not something over the top because it is after all intended to potentially be hauled around in a vehicle, on boats, camping or whatever.

As of right now the only two places that I've seen are Aero and PSA that have forged uppers w/o a forward assist.

Any ideas either for or against anything in particular is welcome.
For light weight without paying a premium for, stick with a mil-spec lower, an upper w/o FA (Aero is fine) and a BCM KMR handguard and choose a lightweight stock and carefully consider your barrel. That makes for a slick, light weight, yet versatile carbine. If you really want to shave ounces beyond that you are either going to pay a lot more or start compromising functionality.

Yes, it's the 7". I used a Griffin Armament Taper Mount linear comp muzzle device to ensure the blast clears the handguard. Generally, I'll add the suppressor but it functions fine unsuppressed.
