Seems you're not alone on the grip issue. But, ROSCH is almost done with their tape switch adaptor so that should help some folks with that issue.

Don't put a unnecessarily long handguard on your gun and your hand doesn't need to be that far forward. Alternately, mount the light/sight wherever you feel more comfortable with it. Remember that the carbine handguard puts the FSB ~7" from the upper.

The tailcap adapter is up for sale at the ROSCH Works store. This let's you mount an E-series SureFire tapeswitch (or any E-series tailcap) so you have more options for preferred grip.

The SL1 is designed to fit anywhere on the top rail. The lighthead has clearance above the rail in other words. Here's how Mike Pannone runs his. You could slide it back further if you wanted to, although we'd have to wonder why your gun is set up with unnecessarily long handguards...

I've had my SL1 for just shy of two months, and definitely like it. While it would be nice to have tool-less adjustment, it's a small compromise considering everything else about it. I especially like the ear shape and placement since it matches up perfectly with my KAC rear sight.

I agree with rob_s regarding handguard length. I run my SL1 nearly flush with the end of my handguard so I can reach it easily. Even with 4" of barrel/flash hider past the lens the shadow isn't noticeable.
