I'd recommend a Becker BK-7 over ESEE as it's Cro-Van steel has more rust resistance than the 1095 high-carbon steel ESEE uses. The 7" blade makes batoning a little bit easier and the .188" thickness makes it go through wood easier than the ESEE 5's 1/4" blade thickness.
