I have been window shopping and I see some barrels that are now 1:5 twist. I'm wondering if that extra twist is really that much better or is it just another gun lore thing.
What I am thinking about is getting a 7.5" blackout barrel, or possibly even shorter and using the RAB-AD fast attach for the stock. With a 7.5" barrel the longest portion would be exactly 16.5" without the stock or suppressor. I measured my current upper from the muzzle device to the back of the castle nut which is exactly where that fast attach will be. If I go with a 6" barrel it would be 15" total on the button.
I think that would be pretty manageable for finding a small bag that isn't too cumbersome. I would probably carry strictly subsonic ammo.
The whole idea is to have a small rifle that I can easily get in and out of a car that I could have on hand or that I could take on road trips, camping, fishing, etc.
Barrel is a Rainier Arms Match with 1:8 twist. The bag is actually my camera bag.
Just used it for a setup shot. Fits a black backpack I have though.
