Is the BFH worth the extra money?
or

For the price, it is hard to beat the Spikes, but you can't go wrong with any of them.

But which is the better upper?
Are they all pretty much the same? I have never owned or touch any of them.
Well now that I found Stick's review I think I may be sold.Last edited by Dualspringfields; 15 July 2010 at 19:53.

I don't have experience with BCM but I do have a Spikes middy upper and I love. It runs like a sewing machine and is pretty accurate. I don't think you can go wrong with a Spikes.

I really think BCM would be the best option, if you are concerned about "the best upper." I do think Spikes makes a quality product, though I will admit to only fondling their uppers and have no range time with them. That being said, BCM makes their product to a very high standard and their whole focus is about providing quality, hard use weapons that will be reliable and durable. Furthermore, BCM has a proven track record of reliability, durability, quality and customer service. Obviously Magpul Dynamics gets heavy use of their BCM uppers, and they run more rounds through them in one year than the average user will put through it in their life. Also, EAG tactical uses BCM products and Pat Rodgers has nothing but praise for their weapons. He is never one to sugar coat anything, and praise from him carries some weight (or at least is should). I bought a BCM 16" LW middy upper and have found it to be an excellent weapon. I don't think you would be making a horrible decision by going with Spikes, but in my opinion BCM is a sure bet.

I'd actually wait for the BCM Lightweight 14.5" Middy units, hopefully they'll have an EAG-Lite package for those, I can't wait to see how those shoot.

Next question.
Can I change out my commercial Receiver Extention to a mil-spec one? Are the threads different too?

Same exact threads. Back off the castle nut, be careful as there is a detent spring hiding under the receiver endplate, slide back the plate and remove the spring and set it aside. Unscrew the extension, going slowly so the buffer retainer and spring inside the lower don't go flying. Catch them and set them aside, and finish removing the extension. Remove the endplate and castle nut from the old extension. Reverse the process for the new extension.
I suggest replacing the endplate with this while you're at it.WWW.TACTICALYELLOWVISOR.NET

Thanks rob_s. Yep I know all about that damn spring. First time I took the stock off it flew. Took me longer to find that than it did to reinstall everything. Got extras now .
Too late on the sling attachment. I ordered the Magpul ASAP Ambidextrous Sling Attachment Point already. If I not like that one I'll check out the Noveske one.
Thanks all. I have been stressin and driving my wife nuts over this.
