The ZFL-M60: Light And Company Brief Overview
The ZFL-M60 Tactical Weapons Light is just one offering in a series of tactical lights manufactured by Elzetta Design LLC of Lexington, Kentucky. Founded in 2007 with LE, MIL and Home Defense customers in mind, Elzetta is devoted to producing high quality, affordable LED flashlights and weapon accessories designed and built exclusively in the USA.
With options for a Standard Bezel or Crenellated Bezel, our version of the ZFL-M60 came equipped with the Crenellated Bezel designed for use as a striking device in self defense or personal protection situations. With over 32 variations of lights available, Elzetta can configure Bezels, Lenses, Light Bodies and Tail Caps, all built to order by the customer and deliver them as a completely assembled “ready-to-run” light.
The Body, Bezel and Tail Cap of the ZFL-M60 are made from 6061-T6 aluminum and finished in the standard Mil-Spec Type III hard coat black anodizing. The grooves and knurling machined into the body of the light provide for a good grip with bare hands, without being excessively sharp or rough.
Elzetta offers to its customers four variations of Tail-Cap, each with distinct modes of operation:
- Rotary
- Clicky
- High/Low
- High/Strobe
Designed with the intent of disorientating an attacker, our light came equipped with the High/Strobe Tail Cap option, so we will focus on this particular Tail Cap and its operation.
Tail Cap operation in both rotary and push-button functions was smooth and positive. I particularly liked the activation of the “Constant ON” feature. Not overly difficult to engage as with some “clicker-type” Tail-Caps I have used, activation of the “Constant ON” feature of the High/Strobe Tail Cap was smooth but with a definitive positive activation which was easily felt but not heard.
We will get into more detail later in the review, on the specifications and operation of the High/Strobe Tail Cap.
Let us break-down the ZFL-M60 into individual components and go over the details of each.
