MIDWEST INDUSTRIES: Carbine Length Gen 2 Two Piece Handguard
Made entirely in the USA, and backed by a Lifetime Warranty, Midwest Industries has recently released their new GEN 2 Drop-In Handguards.

Installation of the handguards is as simple as removing the weapon’s stock handguards, and replacing them with the MI GEN 2 which install exactly as the standard carbine handguards. Steel pins, two on each half of the rails, locks the GEN 2 firmly into the teeth of the host weapon's barrel nut.

Equipped with anti-rotation QD sling swivel sockets fore and aft on each side rail, the GEN 2 eliminates the need for an additional rail mounted QD sling swivel mount.

7 inches in length, and constructed of 6061 aluminum with a hard coat black anodized finish, the GEN 2’s rails are milled to 1913 MIL SPEC and T-marked for indexing of installed accessories.

Weighing in at 7.5 ounces, the effort at weight saving is evident by the machining in the interior of the HG’s.

At 2.3 inches wide, the monolithic design of the GEN 2 bridges the handguard Delta Ring mating up with the rail on weapons with flat-top upper receivers.

Fore and aft cut-outs in the last rail slot of each rail, allow for installation and solid locking of KAC Rail Panels.

According to Midwest Industry specs, the GEN 2 handguards are designed to be compatible with the following piston systems:
STAG, CMMG, ADAMS ARMS, ARES, SMITH & WESSON and LWRC.

After reading comments regarding Midwest Industries rails and the dimensional specifications called out in MIL-STD-1913, I decided to do a few random dimensional checks myself.
MIL-STD-1913 dimensions chosen to be measured are highlighted in YELLOW, with measured dimensional findings outlined in RED.
